About bronze & your skin

Bronze is a living metal. It can leave a green or dark mark on your skin through a natural process called oxidation. This is the same reaction that turned the Statue of Liberty green over time.

This is completely normal, harmless, and washes off easily with soap and water.

The clear nail polish trick: Apply a thin coat of clear nail polish to the inside of your ring. This creates an invisible barrier between the bronze and your skin. Reapply every few weeks as it wears off.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PIECE

Chi Rho - Chi (χ) and rho (ρ) are the two letters in ancient Greek that begin the name Χριστός (Christos) . The chi-rho (☧) was used on the standards of Constantine when he defeated Maxentius and brought Christianity into the Roman Empire in the early fourth century.

The Chi Rho symbol has pre-Christian connections and is believed to have been revered by the pagan Greeks as representative of good fortune. Pagan Greek scribes used the symbol in the margin to mark passages they considered especially significant or relevant, with the letters Chi and Rho denoting ‘Chreston’ which means ‘good’. The sign has also been found on the coins of Ptolemy III (246-222 BCE).

Chi Rho gained widespread popularity and found much use by the Christians after it was adopted by Emperor Constantine. Later, the symbol also appeared on the coins of Emperor Constantine and his successors.
