Why put a prayer on a ring?

Because you see your hands while you're getting on with your day.
Picking up a cup. Reaching for the door.
A ring puts the reminder right there.
On the Chi Rho VII, the words around the face translate to:
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me the sinner."
At the center is the Chi Rho, formed from the first two Greek letters of Christ's name.
If you're considering wearing it, those are the words and the symbol you'll carry with you.
My own reason for choosing that symbol goes back to 2020.
I already had my faith
When COVID arrived, the orders to my jewelry business stopped.
I'd been making jewelry for 29 years. I knew the work. I couldn't tell you when the orders would come back.
I already had my faith. I still worried about the future.
During that quiet spell, I started reading Roman history and became interested in the Chi Rho.
I wanted a reminder of Christ somewhere I'd see it during the day, including while I worked.
So I made a ring for myself.
A ring I wanted to wear
Then came the work of making it.
I had to work out the proportions and surrounding detail, and how the ring would sit on my hand.
I wanted to be pleased with the work as a jeweler and connected to its meaning as a Christian.
Someone else could admire the ring without knowing why I'd chosen it.
I'd still have my reason for wearing it.

How that became SPQR Shop
As I worked on that personal ring, I started thinking about other Christian and Roman stories I could bring into my designs.
And about the people who might want to wear them.
I opened SPQR Shop in 2020. I still design and make the rings myself.
The Chi Rho VII is one of the rings I make today.
